Our Story
What inspired you to start this business?
Uprooted Vegan Cuisine was born from a simple need: fresh, plant-forward meals that make eating vegan exciting and accessible for everyone. My journey into vegan cooking started when I was diagnosed with renal failure.
After adopting a vegan lifestyle, my kidney function improved dramatically, and it inspired me to share the benefits of plant-based eating with the world. We uprooted ourselves from Western New York, moved to Aiken, SC, and I turned my passion for vegan food into a business that supports local farmers, healthy living, and the environment.
What was the biggest challenge you faced when starting?
One of the toughest things was overcoming the misconception that vegan food is bland or boring. I’ve worked hard to prove that plant-based eating can be exciting, delicious, and full of flavor! I designed the Uprooted vegan weekly menu to take full advantage of fresh, seasonal ingredients, so every week brings something new and delightful to our customers.
What are you most proud of in your business?
I’m most proud of the relationships we’ve built with our local farmers and the incredible response we’ve received from our customers. We’re proud to be part of the Too Good to Go app, helping reduce food waste, and we love how people are embracing plant-based dining, even if they’re not strictly vegan. We’ve also had the privilege of catering for some amazing local events, and I’m beyond thankful for the support we’ve received in such a short amount of time.
Products & Services
What are your most popular products or services?
The Uprooted vegan weekly menu is always evolving, but some fan favorites include our Birria Tacos, Buddha Bowls, and Roasted Cauliflower Steaks. We also have a line-up of decadent desserts like our Vegan Chocolate Cake and Cupcakes—people always ask for the recipe!
Our weekly menu is something we’re really proud of!
We’re not just sticking to the same dishes every week—we love exploring new flavors and ingredients, which means there’s always something fresh and exciting on the menu. We also offer gluten-free options every week and have partnered with Too Good to Go, where customers can rescue delicious meals at a great price and help reduce food waste at the same time.
Are there any seasonal or special offerings that you provide?
Yes! We create seasonal menus that celebrate fresh, locally grown produce. For the holidays, we offer custom menus with festive vegan meals, desserts, and baked goods – perfect for celebrating without compromise.
What sets you apart?
Uprooted vegan is all about community, creativity, and sustainability. We focus on locally sourced ingredients, which not only taste better but also help support small local farms and businesses. We also take pride in offering gluten-free and allergy-friendly options each week, making sure that everyone can enjoy our food without worrying about restrictions. Plus, our weekly menu keeps things fresh and exciting—there’s always something new to try!
Community Engagement
How does your business give back to the local community?
We’re big believers in supporting our local farmers and community. By sourcing ingredients from local farms, we help keep money in the local economy and reduce our environmental impact.
We also participate in Too Good to Go, where we provide “Surprise Bags” at discounted prices, helping to fight food waste while offering customers great deals. We love getting involved with local events and educating people about the benefits of plant-based eating.
Do you collaborate with any other local businesses?
We work closely with OPP Kitchen in Martinez, GA, where we prepare our meals. Our dishes are stocked in their grab-and-go cooler, making it easier for people to pick up a healthy vegan meal. We also team up with local farmers to ensure we’re using the freshest, most sustainable ingredients possible.
